Lighting Systems

While lighting systems for a window well are not widely recognized as a viable lighting option, many do-it-yourselfers and building contractors stress the need to maximize natural light coming in through a window well since basements typically do not have windows.

One way to maximize natural light entering through a window well is to strategically place mirrors inside the basement areas so that the light will bounce off and illuminate other areas of the basement. Another way to maximize light is to install small solar panels inside the window well to capture the sun's solar rays which can be used instead of electricity for powering up lamps and lights in the basement in the evening.
